OSAGE BEACH, Mo. — Lake Regional Health System will hold a Breast Cancer Awareness Fair from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, in the hospital’s third floor conference rooms. The event will provide information on breast cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment, support and much more.
“In addition to breast cancer, this year’s fair will feature booths on other important topics, such as cervical cancer, heart health, bone density testing and genetic testing,” said Marcy Maxwell, R.N., director of Oncology Services at Lake Regional. “We are pleased to showcase many of the health care resources available locally for area women.”
Participants can learn about breast self-examination, the importance of mammography, the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, risk factors and lymphedema, as well as treatment options and nutritional and support services available at Lake Regional Cancer Center. In addition, information will be provided on reconstructive surgery options.
Staff from Bella Donna salon again will offer pink hair extensions, and Spa Shiki will offer pink manicures. Proceeds will go to Lake Regional Cancer Center to assist local patients currently undergoing treatment.
Because of generous community donations, several drawings will be held for free mammograms. In addition, all attendees will receive a coupon for special mammogram pricing. Free take-home colorectal cancer screening kits also will be available.
No registration is required; attendees may come and go throughout the event. For more information, visit lakeregional.com/events.
