CVB Annual Dinner
Monday, March 28, 2011 at 3:41PM The Lake of the Ozarks Convention & Visitor Bureau hosted the CVB Annual Dinner on Thursday, March 24th at Camden on the Lake for over 250 members of the CVB and Tri County Lodging Association.
The evening began with a reception and silent auction in H. Toad’s followed by an elegant dining experience in the newly remodeled Kinderhook Room. Attendees were greeted with a glass of champagne as they entered the room filled with light violin music and video of past membership events.
Following dinner, there was a presentation of the newly elected CVB board members in the following categories;
Entertainment & Attractions, Phyllis Marose with Putt’ N Stuff Family Fun Center
General Business & Manufacturing, Mitch Bettis with Lake Media
Professional Services, Marcus Sykora with State Farm Insurance
Marine Business, Darrell Law with Bridgeport Boat Rentals
A CVB Appreciation Award was presented to Helen Willis for her years of service to the Lake of the
Ozarks Convention & Visitor Bureau. Tim Jacobsen, Executive Director, states, “Helen is being
recognized for her continued contributions to our organization. Helen has assisted the CVB for years on a
part time basis in many capacities, such as; publication distribution, office assistance and working special
events. We appreciate her years of service and dedication to our team.”

The Partners In Tourism award was presented to Geniece Tyler for the leadership she has demonstrated in the tourism industry. Geniece was born and raised in Eldon and later moved to Kansas City, MO where she was a librarian and taught school for 11 years. Geniece and her husband, Dave, moved to Osage Beach in 1982 as partners and managers of the Golden Door Motel. Geniece was on the Board of Directors for the Lake Area Chamber of Commerce from 1983 – 2001, serving as Board President in 1999 & 2000. Geniece is a current member of the Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Marketing Committee and she served as a TCLA Board Member from 2005 to 2008. Geniece has been on the Willmore Lodge Foundation Board since 1998 and is currently President.
After the presentation Geniece Tyler states “I would like to express my appreciation and thanks for the great honor of receiving the Partners In Tourism award at the Lake of the Ozarks Convention and Visitor Bureau Annual Membership Dinner. I was so surprised and want to express my heartfelt thanks. I enjoy working to make the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks a great place to vacation and to live. I hope I can continue to help the area grow in any way I can. Thanks again for this great honor. "
Tim Jacobsen, Executive Director, CVB adds “It is an honor to work with such a wonderful person as Geniece Tyler. Geniece has effectively made a positive and sustaining difference in the tourism industry through her actions and her leadership on the numerous board and committee meetings in which she participates. Geniece Tyler is very deserving of the 2011 Partners In Tourism award.”
Jim Divincen, Executive Vice President, TCLA adds, “Congratulations to Geniece Tyler for being awarded the 2001 Partners In Tourism award! For the past several decades, Geniece has committed a tremendous amount of her personal time to better our community by serving on the Lake Area Chamber Board, the Willmore Foundation Board, the Tri-County Lodging Association Board and by leading the effort for the annual Mountain Man Festival. On behalf of the Tri-County Lodging Association, we’re so excited that Geniece Tyler was selected to receive the prestigious 2011 Partners In Tourism award.”
